Wednesday 17th October 2012 - The Next Big Thing Meme

Last week I was tagged by lovely Rowan Coleman (http://www.rowancoleman.co.uk/archives/532) in the Next Big Thing meme to answer these questions, so here I am, giving it a go!
• What is the working title of your next book?
Um, I can't tell you that - it's top secret stuff! That's going to make the rest of these questions quite difficult, I expect, so I'll tell you about Snug As A Bug, which is out in February.
• Where did the idea come from for the book?
I had a dream and woke up with the rhyme for the book in my head. So I wrote it down and eventually, it evolved into a picture book text.

• What genre does your book fall under?
It's a rhyming, counting picture book - is that a genre?
• What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?

An unknown little cutie to play young George, Jennifer Aniston to play his mother and we'd hold open auditions to cast The Bug.
• What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?

"Would you like to be Snug As A Bug?"
• Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I'm represented by Antony Harwood Ltd and the book is published by Simon and Schuster
• How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?

About two days, I think? Two pretty intensive days...
• What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Room on the Broom, by Julia Donaldson
• Who or what inspired you to write this book?

It came to me in a dream but it's dedicated to my little boy.
• What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Imagine gnus in shoes and pigs in wigs and you'll get the idea behind the book :)

I'm supposed to tag five more writers but I know everyone is busy so if you're a writer and fancy having a go at this meme, consider yourself tagged! Good luck!
